Extra Curricular Events at Johannesburg Polytech Institute

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy... goes the old adage. At JPI we believe in letting young people develop their skills to their fullest. Skills such as dancing, debating, acting etc. Recently JPI has had a number of events simply aimed at entertaining as well as making the learning environment friendly.

The debating club is one of such events. This year we are planning to host an inter school competition. Other events includes:

Valentines Day

This is not Paris catwalk...A JPI Student strutting her stuff in a catwalk competition. Every year we hold an annual catwalk competition. This is done during Matric Dance.

Matric Dance is annual event held in honour of all Matriculants (Grade 12 Leavers). And wow its a sight to behold. Everybody is encouraged to wear their best and year 2008 was no exception.

With this kind of send off, no wonder most of our students feel confident when looking out in life. It is this kind of events which lingers on in life with memories of days gone but with a knowledge that all was made due to interventions we make in life.

Matric Dance

Apart from Catwalk, we also have Mr. and Miss JPI beauty pageant: competition. This is an annual event organised by the students and the school where the pageant is not only judged by physical looks but also by intellect and ability to hold herself as a role model to other students throughout the year. Seen here are the top 3 who made it in the year.

Mr. and Miss JPI event is for both Primary and High School.

A sight to behold. You don't have to be Naomi Campbell to be famous in Johannesburg Polytech.

All you need is the drive to hold your head high and walk down the lane... and wow we will all cheer and who knows who could be watching? You might find yourself in one of the designer houses of London or Paris thanks to JPI!

Modeling and catwalk are some of the items you wont miss during all the events of public entertainment. There is grace and maturity, professionalism that you wont find anywhere else. But what is amazing is that all has been prepared by the students themselves without educators input. It just shows how creative young minds can be if only you can give them a chance.

At JPI we just love having fun! After all it's all in a days work.

Cat Walk

Even male students are not be left out. Seen here is Mr. and Miss JPI during the finals for the pageant. Just like Miss JPI Pageant, the Mr. JPI pageant is not just a "handsome" affair but one which explores ones capability in leadership and judgment.

All these events are held during the year at the JPI Auditorium.
