Library and the Multi Media Resource Centre

Shh...shhhh...You are in the Library! Johannesburg Polytech Institute has one of the state of the art library services in town. With over 50000 books in its catalogue, we pride in ourselves in making this collection available to every student who enters our doors.

Currently the Library is being computerized. This will make it possible for us to offer books on loan to students and monitor overdue books as well as lost books. The multi media collection needs more refurbishing and we are currently buying as well as appealing to well wishers to provide more multi media equipment.

Donations for books as well as educational CDs, Videos, and DVDs are most welcome. We want to ensure that all learning tools are available to our students, and that they are not left out in the information age.

There are two libraries, High School and Primary School Libraries

Each library can accommodate more than 50 students seated at any given time, and collections of books range from official curriculum books as well as general readership, magazines, Daily Newspapers etc.

The Library opens at 8.00 am in the morning and closes at 5.00 PM in the evening Mondays to Fridays. On Saturday it opens at 9.00AM and closes at 1.00 PM. It remains closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. Please make sure you spend some time in the Library with Mr. James (High School Librarian) and Mr. Shepherd (Primary School Librarian) you will get the right stuff to finish your assignments.

The Multi Media Resource Centre

This is an Internet Cyber Cafe situated in the school which caters for all Internet Research by the students. The MMRC consists of 40 computers connected to the ADSL broad band internet access.

Every student is given a username and a password when they register for only 5 Rand per hour. Learners can download information and past papers from the Department of education website. They can also print and make copies at very subsidized rates.
